Internships for High School Students

For many high school students the next logical step after graduation is college. This is an excellent choice, especially considering that a college degree will help you to earn more money. But what about choosing a major? How do you know what you’ll enjoy doing? If you are struggling with a major and deciding where to spend a majority of your study time, then an internship might be right for you. Even if you are still in high school, there are plenty of internship opportunities. Below is a list of internships perfect for high school students.

1.       Business field. If you are interested in going to business school, then you should look for an internship at an office or in the business field you are interested in. For example, you could intern at a bank. This is a great way to make sure the environment and the type of work will be something you will enjoy.

2.       Marketing. If you have some great ideas for marketing or you’re skilled at graphic design, consider working in a marketing department. You can learn the ins and outs of marketing – even those things that aren’t always fun and creative. You can see how a marketing department works and how your skills may be valuable in that field.

3.       Health care. The health care field is growing – and growing rapidly. Even in a down turned economy, the heath care field continues to be strong. If you want to work in health care, maybe as a doctor or a nurse, volunteer at the local hospital. There are opportunities for you to get your foot in the door and see what a hospital environment is all about. These opportunities certainly won’t be the most glamorous jobs, but you’ll get a real feel for how day-to-day life in a hospital is.

Internships are a wonderful way to prepare for college.
